Stepney Green Park paintings.
A series of oil on canvas paintings, painted in the 1990's, each one measuring about 3'6" x 4'2".
Stepney Green Park is a long sinuous park in Stepney, Tower Hamlets, with a pathway through the middle. A series; a expressive narrative. There are four segments of the park as you can see in the map.
The first landscape is in spring. The two tall trees like temple columns on either side.
The second, also of spring. With a small brush to capture the detail and find odd little shapes that remind of things born.
The third, goes back to the gate with the trees like two columns with the sunlight from the side and entering into summer now.
The fourth, has a lone figure sitting on the grass in contemplation, the pathway passing through the gates and receding into the background.
The fifth, with the grass singed brown by the sun, and the sixth with the autumn leaves along the path.
The last painting, with the long shadows falling across the path.
